Latest News from Lloyd Decorators

You may know that I am a stickler for good preparation and workmanship and this is most certainly the case with one of our most valuable tools – the humble paintbrush.

Brushes should be cleaned immediately after you have stopped painting. If possible wipe as much excess paint from the brush onto rags or newspaper.

Take a look at these facts:

  • Britons spend £244 a year per head correcting DIY disasters adding up to a staggering £6 billion for the nation annually
  • There are currently 31.7 million unfinished DIY jobs in the UK
  • One in ten Britons has injured themselves carrying out DIY jobs

These are some of the conclusions from a survey of 2,000 households carried out by Armstead Trade, a professional paint brand.

I do like to do a thorough job when I am painting a room. It makes for a professional finish and can save money for you, the customer, in the long run.

Here are just a few of the ‘extras’ I provide:

  • Door handles and window catches. Wherever possible I will remove door handles and window catches prior to painting. I don’t think anything looks much worse than a paint-spattered window catch. The same goes for light switches and sockets.

I was very interested to read the results of a recent survey which found what I have always maintained – good workmen value their reputation for good service over the money they receive for a job.

At the end of last year Dulux Trade published the results of a survey of 500 decorators across the UK. It looked at a variety of issues relevant to the industry, including time management, training and the value of reputation.

  • "Once again, the work your team did at our Salon was excellent. We really appreciate the fact that you managed to carry out the work with minimum disruption to our business."

  • "Lloyd Decorators have just completed painting my whole house, which I was rather dreading – the process not the end result! The house was shabby, and complex with repairs to be made and fiddly woodwork to be painted too.

Mr. Lloyd was most helpful from the visit to quote for the work, kept to the estimated time plan for doing the work, and supervised his team while they were working.

The men on the job were helpful, discrete and very skilled – making the process of moving furniture etc as easy as possible. And, to top it all, I love the end result. They have transformed my house, and I am delighted – so I am delighted to recommend the company.

My sons recommended the company to me – and I am very glad that I listened to them!"
